1. May 30, 2011

This is a busy week for our friends in Sibiu/Hermannstadt, with the 18th Annual International Theatre Festival in full swing and the Lutheran “Kirchentag” (Church Gathering) in Dresden, Germany.  Gerhild Rudolf, Editor of the National church newsletter writes:

    Festival of Faith in Dresden/Germany

From 1 to 5 June 2011 Dresden hosts the 33rd German Protestant Kirchentag. This festival of faith offers the possibility for celebration and to discuss on the pressing issues of the day. Over hundred thousand people from far and near will join in the spirit of the Kirchentag.

“… there your heart will be also” is the Kirchentag theme, taken from the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 6:21). Jesus asks: to what is your heart committed? Treasures in heaven or on earth? What is really important in life? For what and for whom does your heart beat? Is your heartfelt conviction one of a good life for everyone, a healthy environment, a world of peace an justice? Each and every one of us has been given a sense of responsibility in our heart. When we recognize that we are ourselves loved by God, then we are able to pass on this love with all our heart.

Lutherans from Transylvania participate in the Dresden Kirchentag: Youth from Sibiu-Hermannstadt, Dr. Elfriede Dörr who will deliver a Bible Study, an official group presenting our Church at an information stand, the Bach-Choir with a very special concert, any many other persons and groups will be there.

    Pray for us.

We will bring you some pictures and impressions.
