1. “Mohikaner spenden für Sachsen”

A connection between Wilderness Lutheran of the Stockbridge Mohican community in Wisconsin and the Lutheran Church in Hermannstadt/Sibiu was featured in the April 30, 2010, Hermannstädter Zeitung.  ”The last of the Mohicans supporting “the last of the Siebenbürger Sachsens” (German-Transylvanians) was the intriguing point registered. Mohican people provided funds for some apple trees and supplies for developing a Nature Center, a project of the Sibiu Church in the nearby village of Hammersdorf.

Ten volunteers from six Lutheran congregations in Wisconsin are coming May 14 for a week of work in Hammersdorf, helping with the renovation of a centuries-old parsonage destined to be a Center for Environmental Stewardship and Youth Retreats.
